To BE the Ekklesia*

The Church should not just seem to be the Church, but it should BE the Church as Jesus intended. New groups like Christian Nationalism and new denominations full of false doctrines are springing up that have nothing to do with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, nor the Church as Christ purposed it to be. There is a lack of the wisdom, knowledge and understanding of Scripture that the Lord has called us to have: "Hear ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding...Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honor, when thou dost embrace her." (Prov. 4:1-8, excerpt).      We are also told in scripture to hide God's Word in our hearts, but we seem to...

Pentecost, Two Sticks and the Torah*

Image
After His resurrection, Jesus was able to be with His disciples for forty days until His ascension into heaven: "And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he (Jesus), ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence." (Acts 1:1-5). The receiving of the Holy Spirit was a promise of God the Father. The disciples then asked Jesus if He would restore the kingdom to Israel at this time. Jesus answered: "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." (v. 6-8).      The Father's promise of the Holy Spirit ...

The Importance of the Word*

This message might be a challenge to some, but it is vital, especially considering the lateness of the hour and the prophecies about to come to pass regarding the end times.      I have memorized verses in the Bible since the time that I became saved. I have noticed that as I look up those memory verses in my Bible, the words have been changed, even in a King James Bible that was given to me by my wife when I got saved many years ago. One of the verses that I had memorized years ago was from Proverbs 26:13 and 15, for example. The wording of these verses that I memorized included the use of the word "sluggard".  Now, however, the wording has changed to "The slothful man...". There are also additional changes within these verses that have occurred in my old Bible. While these changes did occur, the original Hebrew and Greek meanings of the words in the verses do include the newly appearing words in their meanings. However, how did these changes occ...

Rightly Dividing the Word*

We have long been identified as a "Word" church. One prophet said that Everlasting Covenant is "the church where they teach the Word, preach the Word, and dance the Word." The Word of God is essential to a believer's life, but knowing the Word is also essential in teaching others who will teach others the truth of God. Endless arguments over other things that will not edify are fruitless. Paul wrote to his son in the Gospel, Timothy: "...strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Tim. 2:14-15). This means to teach the Word of God directly and correctly. Many churches barely teach the Old Testament, for example, but the Old Testament is the foundation of our faith. Christ said what He was teaching were the things upon which the Law and the prophets hang, which are the two great commandments of t...

Sound Doctrine*

The things coming out of the church world recently have been very concerning. Many comments made on Social Media reflect a lack of knowledge of scripture, and reflect doctrines that are men's doctrines rather than God's. There is a command in scripture to get wisdom and understanding, and to pursue good doctrine : "Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. For I give you good doctrine , forsake you not my law...He (my father) taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live . Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting, get understanding." (Prov. 4:1-7). The doctrines of God come from the Word of God. However, our culture wants to dictate what everyone should believe: in a one-wo...
