What Are You Saying?*

As the LORD appointed Joshua to the leadership of the Israelites after the death of Moses, He gave this instruction to him: "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is whithersoever thou goest." (Joshua 1:8-9). Do we keep the Word of God in our mouths, or have we succumbed to speaking as the world, which is at enmity with God, speaks?      Psalm 19 describes the Word of God as being perfect, sure, wise, right, pure, enlightening, clean, true, righteous, warning, rewarding, and cleansing from secret faults. The Word of God is powerful and able to convert the soul and character of a person. (v. 7-13 ). David concluded his ps...

Toward Understanding the WORD*

Image
Genesis 1:1-3 tells us that from the beginning of creation God spoke the Word and earth was changed from a dark and empty void into a world inhabited by light and life. God first said ( 'amar - speak, said, command, utter, promise, appoint, call, certify): "Let there be light: and there was light." Within these first verses of Genesis, the aleph-tav , the first and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet, appear in the written Hebrew, which connects this creation to Jesus, who is The Aleph-tav or  Alpha and Omega in Greek, the First and the Last, The Beginning and The End.      We see the essential presence of Jesus in creation in the New Testament also in John chapter 1 where He is identified as The Word: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made ( ginomai - come into existence, made, finished) by him; and without him was not any thing made tha...

Preview: "The Late Great United States"*

Introduction : Dr. Stevenson's book, The Late Great United States , is ready for publishing. It contains messages and warnings directed to the nation, including letters that have been written to several presidents by Dr. Stevenson. The book's prolog contains a quote from Abraham Lincoln: "It is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God... and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations are blessed whose God is the Lord". The opening chapter of the book includes a foundational message to this nation regarding the gift of the righteousness and justification of God through Jesus Christ.                                                                           ...

End Time Communications*

The Lord told His disciples that they would hear of many turbulent events before His returmn, including "wars and commotions," but told them "...be not terrified; for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by." (Lk. 21:9). We are hearing of wars and threatened wars now, so what should our attitude and communications be at this time? While others may speak of fear, we are not to fear according to Jesus.      Jesus also prophesied that ethnic groups, races, and kingdoms would rise against each other. Great earthquakes, famines, pestilences, fearful sights and great signs in the heavens. All of these we have seen, including eclipses, comets and unusual planetary alignments. Great persecution would come to believers in Christ, which we have seen. Martyrdom for the name of Jesus has increased in nations around the globe. (v. 10-12). What is to be our response to these things?            Jesus said, "A...

A Spiritual Convergence*

A convergence is defined as " the act of converging and especially moving toward union or uniformity  especially   :  coordinated movement of the two eyes so that the image of a single point is formed on corresponding retinal areas." This is a holy season for Jews and Christians beginning with Purim, Palm Sunday, Resurrection Sunday, and then Passover. During this season, there will also be heavenly events occurring that represent a convergence. These events include a complete solar eclipse and, during that eclipse, the sighting of the Devil's Comet.       The observance during this season that we will discuss today is Purim, which joyfully celebrates the victory over an evil enemy in the Book of Esther. However, Esther is also a prophetic Book. It has this important end time meaning for the Church: If you don't take responsibility to fulfill your purpose here, you won't be saved, and someone else will be raised up who will obedien...

For the Sake of the Children*

There have been discussions lately in the media of how to keep our children safe in increasing danger, such as shootings at schools. All of the "talking heads" are trying to deal with the symptoms without considering the root causes of these terrible events. The Word of God not only identifies the root causes, but also the solutions. The prophet Micah gives us a good look at our society: "He (the LORD) hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable? Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights? For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth." (Mic. 6:8-12). The LORD lists six things which He hates, and seven that are abo...
