       Wearing the white linen Kittel on the Day of Atonement      The month of Elul plus the ten days up to Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement totals forty days. Moses interceded several times for forty days for Israel and for Aaron. One of those occasions was after the Israelites had demanded that Aaron create a golden calf for them to worship. Despite witnessing many miracles of God, His people still sinned and rejected the LORD.             Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is one of the fall feasts commanded by the LORD. Jesus fulfilled the spring feasts with His first coming, and He will fulfill the fall feasts with His return. Jesus fulfilled the Day of Atonement, which reconciles man with God, by the sacrifice of His blood that covers sins. Traditionally, the wearing of white garments (the garments of righteousness) is observed on the Day of Atonement by the Jewish people.       This is the commandment of God concerning the Day of Atonement: "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be a holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God. For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be affli...

It is vital for the Church to understand the importance of the Feasts of the LORD, especially at this time of year. The preparation for the fall feasts begins with the month of Elul and continues into the month of Tishri. This evening begins the Day of Atonement, one of the LORD's fall feasts by commandment: "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be a holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement for you before the LORD your God. For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted...he shall be cut off from among his people...the same soul will I destroy from among his people. The feasts of the LORD deal with end time things. This weekend was the Feast of Trumpets, or Yom Teruah . The shofar (ram's horn trumpet) is blown daily. This time of forty days, from the beginning of the month of Elul until the Day of Atonement, is called Teshuvah , a return to the LORD. There are three facets to these forty days of Teshuvah return to the Lord: repentance, reconciliation, and helping the needy. There are three facets to the Feast of Trumpets: crowning the King, the wedding of the Bride, and the resurrection of the dead. Regarding the wedding of the Bride, and the return of the Lord (the Bridegroom), Jesus told the parable of ten virgins.
