Myths, Lies and Grown-Up Fairy Tales*

Do we have any idea how many myths, lies, and fairy tales we have come to accept as truth? We will see that the increase of these things is also a sign of the end times according to scripture. Paul wrote to his protege, Timothy, whom Paul had placed in leadership over the Ephesian church: "...Preach the word; be instant in season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry." (2 Tim. 1-5). Paul was writing about believers turning away from truth and preferring fables instead because the fables please their flesh. "Fables" is the Greek word, mythos , meaning "a story, fable, invention, fiction, ...

The Passover and the Signs of the Times*

As this Passover season approached, we have seen several unusual signs from God. We have witnessed an unusual solar eclipse, the second eclipse since 2017, along with warfare in the Middle East involving nations that have been mentioned in Bible prophecies. While we never set dates for the Lord's return, Jesus told the Pharisees and Sadducees to heed the signs that had been given to them: "O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky (for the weather); but can ye not discern the signs of the times?...there shall no sign be given...but the sign of the prophet Jonas." (Mt. 16:1-4). The sign of Jonah to which Jesus referred, was the resurrection of Jesus after three days in the grave.      One of the prophetic signs that we see today connected to the last days is the prevalence of scoffers of the faith: "Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of his coming...

The Controversy of Zion*

We just saw an attack by Iran upon Israel. Twenty-four hours before the attack began, my wife, Pastor Mary, put out a call to the Body of Christ for prayer for Israel. The nations surrounding Israel seek the destruction of that nation and the Jewish people by claiming all of the land "from the River to the Sea" for themselves. Even their own claim, therefore, does not support the "two-nation solution" currently being wrongly recommended by those in political power. God said that He would send a strong delusion that would cause people to believe the lie ( 2 Thess. 2:11-12 ). We, the believers in Christ, should not be among those who believe the lie. What do the scriptures say about this?       Although "Zionism" and "Zionist" are not found in scripture, "Zion" certainly is. This is the first mention of Zion: "Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion: the same is the city of David." The Hebrew word, Zion , means a s...

The Light and the Darkness*

This week we will experience a rare total eclipse. There is a massive focus on the darkness that will occur in the middle of the day with many planning parties and celebrations, but Jesus told us to know the signs of the end of the age, and His return . Jesus also said, "Occupy (be busy doing what you should be doing) until I come." ( Lk. 19:13 ). Cults use these same signs to draw people to their false doctrines and keep them from salvation. Are the people of God paying attention to His signs? If so, what then are we called to be doing? As we will see, the day of the LORD when it comes will come with darkness and not celebrations:  "Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light." (Amos 5:18). "The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. And the LORD shall utter his voice before his arm...

The Shroud of Turin: Setting the Record Straight*

Today is Resurrection Sunday, when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.       Newsmax Magazine recently published an issue about the scientific findings regarding the Shroud of Turin, a long linen cloth which contains the startling image, front and back, of a man whose physical wounds agree with the Gospel accounts, medical forensics and pathology of one who had died from crucifixion. The magazine article mentions the coins that were placed on the eyes, the evidence of phylacteries worn by Jews in accordance with the Law of Moses which contained portions of scripture, were present on the Shroud image. The article noted the presence of a bloody "3" on the forehead of the image. This is not a "3", but the Hebrew letter shin, which is embossed on the phylactery box, and reversed on the image. With that bloodied shin letter, we can say that The Blood covered the Law, which was contained in the box.      This is not new ...
